Facing criminal charges in New York can have severe consequences, and those in such situations typically seek legal counsel as soon as possible. This was likely also the first step taken by a 42-year-old Oswego City man after his arrest on drug charges. The Oswego County Drug Task Force, which comprises members of several law enforcement agencies, reported the arrest on a recent Monday.
According to court documents, the task force obtained a search warrant for the accused man’s apartment and proceeded with a search at about 4 p.m. A report indicates that the street value of the seized drugs totals approximately $1,222,410. It includes 62.1 grams of crack cocaine, 324.3 grams of heroin and 1,230 grams of fentanyl. The latter is said to be worth $1 million.
Reportedly, the man faces a potential prison sentence of 25 years to life. He was arraigned on two charges of criminal possession of controlled substances in the first degree and one similar charge in the third degree. He was detained in the correctional facility in Oswego County without bail.
The prospect of 25 years to life behind bars will naturally be overwhelming for anybody. Anyone in such a situation in New York can rely on an experienced criminal defense attorney to do everything in his or her power to limit the potentially adverse consequences of felony drug charges. A lawyer can scrutinize search and seizure procedures, the evidence and the charges, and can even launch an independent investigation to find anything that might count in favor of the accused individual and assist in achieving the best possible outcome.
