Two face larceny charges in alleged Victoria’s Secret theft

| Nov 17, 2016 | Larceny & Theft |

Some people in New City may be trying to get a head-start on the holiday shopping season, or at least may be preparing for the upcoming “Black Friday” sales in stores nationwide. However, it doesn’t take much for accusations of shoplifting to be discussed about. Shoplifting, however, is a theft crime and any allegations of such a crime must be taken very seriously. There could be significant consequences for the accused.

According to the Clarkstown Police Department, two individuals have been accused of shoplifting from the West Nyack Victoria’s Secret store in the Palisades Mall. The act allegedly occurred November 8 at approximately 8:50 p.m. The accused include a 21-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy. Both of the accused are reportedly from the Bronx. A loss prevention employee reportedly saw the two individuals stealing clothing from the store. The value of the goods allegedly stolen was around $1,371.

The two individuals were placed under arrest at the scene of the alleged act. They are now facing charges of fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree possession of stolen goods, which are both felonies. The 21-year-old was let go on an appearance ticket, while the 15-year-old will have his case heard before the Clarkstown Juvenile Aid Bureau.

The outcome of these cases remains to be seen. A conviction could carry serious penalties. However, even if they are not convicted, both of these individuals may find that their reputations have been damaged by the accusations. Therefore, those in situations like these may want to secure legal advice, to determine how to wage a successful defense and preserve their integrity and future.
