In response to the fatal car accident, the university is offering counseling services to those in the community.

The accident took place on a recent Friday afternoon. According to reports, the student was attempting the cross the street and was walking behind another person when she was struck. Upon an initial investigation, authorities determined that the driver had swerved in an attempt to steer away from hitting the other individual, but ended up striking the student. Sadly, the student was pronounced dead, and her organs are being donated.

At this time, authorities have not charged the driver. The student was attending Sacred Heart University, and a president of the school stated that an on-campus memorial service will be held in her honor. No other details have been released.

The car accident is undoubtedly devastating for the deceased student’s family members and her peers. Now, her family is left with the daunting task of burying their loved one, as a result of an untimely death. Depending on the outcome of this investigation, the family of the deceased may wish to initiate a legal claim against the driver for the recovery of damages suffered. New York families who lost their loved ones in a car accident may have the right to file wrongful death claims against the other party in an effort to obtain financial relief.
