New York ambulette driver faces DWI charges

A New York driver is facing felony DUI charges after he allegedly committed multiple traffic violations while driving. Police stopped the man after purportedly observing the man speeding and failing to maintain his lane on several occasions. After stopping the vehicle and investigating further, police noticed the man's slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and an odor of alcohol on his breath. The man also apparently failed a number of field sobriety tests given at the scene.

The man faces numerous charges including operating a motor vehicle with .08 of 1 percent or more alcohol. Many of these charges were related to his prior DUI conviction in 2013.

If you are convicted on DUI charges, you will likely face serious consequences, especially if you have one or more past convictions on your record over the past decade. Many drivers with DUIs end up facing jail time and having to pay hefty fines. License suspension is also common, particularly if you choose not to submit to a breathalyzer or other blood alcohol content test at the scene of the crash. Lastly, in New York, you may be required to take substance abuse classes and install an ignition interlock device in your vehicle.

This device will prevent you from starting the engine if you have any alcohol in your system. To potentially lessen these consequences, contact a DUI attorney to help you with your case. A qualified criminal defense attorney can come up with a defense strategy to stand up for you in court against a prosecutor whose only goal is to get a conviction. Having a solid defense strategy can be the difference between years and prison and a clean record.
