Alleged smugglers charged with planning murder of witnesses

A man who was allegedly involved in a cigarette-smuggling ring that stretched from New York to Virginia has additionally been accused of plotting to have witnesses murdered while he was in prison. His criminal defense lawyer claims that the man was "venting" rather than actually planning murder.

New York man facing drug charges

A 20-year-old New York man has been arrested following an Oct. 22 traffic stop in Montgomery County. Authorities claim to have discovered 3.6 grams of marijuana and 0.3 grams of ecstasy in his vehicle, for which he received numerous drug charges including unlawful possession of marijuana and misdemeanor seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Accused internet mastermind to be transfered to New York

New York will soon play host to the man accused of running the illegal trading website known as "Silk Road." He has been scheduled for transfer from California to a prison in New York state, where he will face charges of money laundering, computer hacking conspiracy, narcotics trafficking conspiracy and others. He has refused to seek bail while in custody and has been using the services of the public defender in San Francisco. After his transfer, he will have a new lawyer, but no other information has yet been released.

New York man facing charges for drug ring connection

A man who tested positive for drugs and refused to acknowledge his involvement with a drug ring based in Ogdensburg was taken into custody on Sept. 30 during his sentencing. The defendant was originally taken into custody on Dec. 6 during an apartment drug raid conducted by Ogdensburg police. The raids were the result of a crack cocaine trafficking investigation.
